Melanie Beth Curran is a creative writer, musician and artist living in Brooklyn, NY.

She is working on a book called “Am I Bridget?” about the Irish Bridget stereotype’s modern appearances.

Melanie is a songwriter and musical performer. She was raised on an Island near Seattle, Washington. Her first album was called Hot Sauce in Kitsap County. Her second album was called San Benedito Beach. These, and her EPs, can be found on bandcamp. She currently plays in a band called The Jersey Sures.

She is a part-time faculty member at Montclair State University where she teaches first year writing.

Melanie holds an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School University, and a BA in American Studies from The Evergreen State College.

She was a Fulbright Research Fellow to France for her Creative Non-Fiction project on Breton traditional music and dance cultures (2019-20).

Melanie was the recipient of City Artist Corps Grant, “Creatives Rebulid New York”, from The New York Foundation for the Arts in 2021.
